This is a "career guide" for Fayette County Fire/EMS (it also contains the new hire ambulance driving miles, as well as the new hire orientation.
The beginning discusses the importance of taking classes, getting degrees, and promotional processes. It starts for year 1 and goes through year 6.
Each year, they are given educational goals, classes to attend, and things to study. If they complete the classes, by the end of the year, they will have obtained all pre-requisites needed for each promotional step along the way (not including degrees and/or paramedic).
Obtaining degrees is discussed in the opening, and paramedic class is encouraged throughout.
At the end, there are more "encouraged" classes to attend as well.
The hope is that this can be either given to the recruits when they graduate or placed with the new hire checklists that the officers get when they are assigned a rookie. We wanted to give the newer guys a list of classes and a direction for them to head. Hopefully this will lead to people being ready for promotions sooner, and will ease the waiting to the last minute that sometimes happens.
This resource is designed to help you be prepared for fire station tours, and/or fire safety education at PR events. This is designed to be a guide, but obviously you are able to add your own stuff/flare to it.
This is a Powerpoint presentation that has a quick reference slide for each medication that we carry. It was started by Chief Blair in 2007 and updated as time has passed. This does not replace your protocols or other EMS training.
If you see any errors or omissions, send Lt. Thomas an e-mail so it can be rectified.
These are either apps that are required to be used on calls or are resources while on calls or for training at the station. They are free to download from whichever app store you have on your phone.
The BoatUS Foundation's Online Course is the only FREE Online Boating Safety Course approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
The course mostly covers things beyond what we are worried about in Fayette County, but with Boat 7, it is another resource to add to your depth of knowledge.
